How payment works once the app is available
These are the steps after SMOAI provides the app and the restaurant completes phone testing. They do not mean it can collect cards today.
- Install SMOAI Merchant on a supported iPhone. Sign in yourself and choose the restaurant.
- On first use, continue as the authorised administrator and complete Apple’s terms and tap education.
- Refresh orders, choose an existing pay-at-store order and check its amount. The amount comes from the order; this app does not offer a free-entry amount.
- Ask the customer to hold their contactless card or Apple Pay at the top of your iPhone and follow the Apple payment screen.
- Wait for SMOAI to show Payment confirmed. If interrupted or uncertain, choose Check payment again for the original order. Do not start a second charge.
Device and payment questions
Which iPhone can I use?
iPhone XS or later, using an Apple-supported non-beta iOS version. Update to the latest stable version available for the device, with internet and location access. The installed app makes the final device check.
Can I collect cards in this browser?
No. This website helps with settings; card collection requires the native SMOAI Merchant iPhone app. No server address or pairing code is needed.
What if a payment is unclear or the connection drops?
Keep the original order and use Check payment again in the app after reconnecting. Do not charge it again. Wait for confirmed cancellation before changing payment method; use the existing authorised order refund flow for refunds.
Will this guide ask for card details or codes?
No. It does not collect passwords, payment card details or verification codes. Personal Stripe and Apple steps stay on their official pages or your own phone.
